Pricing & Ordering

What it costs, and how to order.

Real clay chip pricing depends on three choices: the mold, the edge-spot level, and whether the chip is plain, hot-stamped, or inlaid — plus premiums for certain colors. The grids below show everything; the Chip Designer shows spot levels live as you build.

Ordering Guide

Placing your first order.

1

Build your spec

Pick plain, hot stamp, or inlay; then mold, body colors, edge spots, and inlay size/shape. The Custom Chips page has every chart.

2

Email your order

All orders are submitted by email or the contact form. Attach your Chip Designer output or share link if you used the tool.

3

Pay & get proofed

Custom orders are paid 100% up front, then proofed. You can still change colors or design when you see the proof. Don't wait on artwork — clay prep is the long pole.

4

We press & ship

Molds run in rotation by paid demand, so custom clay orders take roughly 3 to 12 months. Ceramics generally ship in 3–4 weeks.

The Fine Print

Minimums, payment, delivery & shipping.

Minimums. 300 chips minimum, with up to 3 unique chips per 300 (4 in 400, 5 in 500, and so on). Hot-stamp chips minimum 100 each. 39mm and 44mm orders can't be combined. Orders with multiple quantities of 50 or below may attract a wastage premium. Add-ons and re-orders are evaluated case by case and lowered where possible.

Payment. 100% up front for all custom orders, by credit/debit card, PayPal, check, or wire transfer. Electronic payments carry a 3.5% fee (5.5% for international shipping or billing addresses), which is non-refundable.

Delivery. Every piece of every chip is handmade to order, and molds are installed in rotation by paid demand — so custom clay orders take roughly 3 to 12 months depending on mold and quantity. You're welcome to ask which molds are currently scheduled, but waiting until your mold is about to run will usually be too late due to clay preparation time. Ceramic orders generally complete in 3–4 weeks. All delivery estimates are subject to change.

Shipping. Chip-only orders up to roughly 600–800 chips ship USPS Priority Mail; larger orders ship UPS Ground (UPS Air for international). Other orders ship by the cheapest suitable method unless requested otherwise. Shipping and handling are added to your invoice at cost.

Returns. Custom orders can't be returned. Stock sets: 15% re-stocking fee, returned unused in original packaging within 14 days; see the contact page for the returns address.

FAQ

Clay chips, explained.

What are American-style clay chips?
The type of chip manufactured in the United States starting in the late 1800s and continuing today — the chips the great casinos were built on.
So they're made of clay, right?
Wrong and right! Originally they may have been 100% clay, but for the last 75+ years they've been a composition of materials heavier and more durable than pure clay.
How are they made?
Compression-molded under extreme pressure and temperature — 10,000 psi at 300°F — one chip at a time.
What about injection-molded chips advertised as clay?
Beware: all injection-molded chips are plastic. Some add a clay-like filler, but they don't have the feel or handling of true clay chips.
Are clay chips unbreakable?
No. They're tough and durable under normal play, but rough handling can damage them — as it can plastic chips.
How long will they last?
In a casino, about 3 to 6 years of constant duty. In home use, with good care and correct storage, a lifetime.
What's the difference between a printed center and a hot stamp?
A printed center (inlay) is protected by clear PVC vinyl and molded directly into the chip body. Hot stamping applies metallic foil directly to the surface with heat and pressure.
Why have clay chips stayed popular for a century?
Security first: a handmade clay chip is nearly impossible to duplicate — the molds exist only at our factory and the process is closely guarded. Then handling (less slippery than plastic), durability proven in thousands of casinos, and cost — still the least expensive protected chip on the market.
How do I describe the chip I want?
Body color first; then edge-spot count and size (e.g. “312” = three 1/2″ spots); then spot colors; then artwork; then mold. Example: Black 312 Dayglo Green, printed center, on the Horsehead mold.
